Clog 3 LUTs (Cinema Gamut & Rec709 Gamut) + Clog 2 (Canon Cinema Gamut)

Clog 3 LUTs (Cinema Gamut & Rec709 Gamut) + Clog 2 (Canon Cinema Gamut)

A fantastic one-click Rec709 transform LUT for Canon Clog3 (Rec 709 & Canon Cinema Gamut) and Clog2 (Canon Cinema Gamut) footage. There are multiple transform LUTs with a couple of creative LUTs as well (such as Nostalgia).

I developed this LUT simply because I was not happy with the Canon provided LUTs, namely with how blues and skin tones were mapped as well as contrast. These LUTs fix those issues.

The RAW LUTs are intended for the default encoding in most NLE’s which is Canon Log 2 gamma curve and Canon Cinema Gamut color space.

Key Features:

  • Accurate colors

  • Accurate skin tones

  • Pleasing highlight roll-off

Some of my personal favorites:

  • Clog3/Cinema Gamut: Crispy

    • This is my go-to for R5/R5c CLog3/CG footage.

  • Clog2/Cinema Gamut: Faithful Crush

    • This is usually my starting point for C70/C500ii/C300iii/R5c RAW footage

  • Clog 2&3/ Cinema Gamut: Nostalgia

    • This is more of a creative look, but for daylight exteriors, I love the look.

*Note: When shooting in RAW/RAW Light, ensure that your NLE is decoding the CRM files as Canon Log 2/Canon Cinema Gamut.

These LUTs are designed to give you a starting point for color grading. In many cases, they look great without any other corrections (when your footage is exposed and balanced properly), but I intentionally do not stretch the contrast /saturation very far so as to work in all lighting conditions. My intent is to not “destroy” the image with too much contrast or saturation like many other LUTs out there do, so consequently, additional contrast or saturation may be needed to your footage to suit your preference. Some of my Canon LUTs have more contrast than others.
